// Project Altara
Project Altära explores the possibility of creating an organic spatial experience using plastic, an inert material. The pavilion, located in a highly visited area in Chennai, features modular pods resembling mushroom clusters made from recycled bio-plastic and reinforced with a perpendicular steel lattice. It aims to provide visitors with a futuristic and personal experience. The lighting system, powered by bioluminescent algae, reacts to touch and motion, allowing interactive engagement. The structure is framed with glass-fiber reinforced plastic, forming biodegradable modules that house algal gilled tanks. The pods rest on varied seating and interaction spaces, creating an organic pedestal. Lochans illuminate the pods, transforming the installation into a form of living light, especially at dusk, rhythmically enhancing the site.
